Thorpe Lecturer. Award-winning and nationally recognized, Uday Devgan, MD, FACS is a true expert in the field of ocular surgery. Specializing in Cataract, Lens, & LASIK Eye Surgery, Dr. Devgan is known as the Doctors’ Doctor. He has taught surgery in 40 countries and writes teaching columns in eye surgery journals which are distributed worldwide. Dr. Devgan has written more than 200 books, chapters, medical papers, and journal articles about techniques of cataract, lens, and LASIK surgery. These writings as well as his instructional surgical videos have helped thousands of ophthalmologists and their patients. He is passionate about teaching ocular surgery, particularly cataract surgery, to the next generation of ophthalmologists and has been actively involved in resident surgical teaching for two decades. Dr. Devgan is humbled to have been honored with the annual ophthalmology faculty teaching award at UCLA / Jules Stein Eye Institute an unprecedented five times. He continues to mentor former residents after the culmination of their training and is proud to say that he has directly mentored more than 160 residents over the course of thousands of ocular surgeries. Dr. Devgan has been named one of the top key opinion leaders in ophthalmology and he has taught ocular surgery in more than 50 countries to tens of thousands of fellow ophthalmologists. He writes regular columns in multiple ophthalmic journals and his Back to Basics monthly feature in the journal Ocular Surgery News about the fundamentals of ophthalmic surgery has been distributed to 80,000 ophthalmologists worldwide for more than fifteen years. Uday also writes a monthly blog for JAMA Ophthalmology (Journal of the American Medical Association) which discusses the latest topics related to ophthalmic surgery. |
